天球瓶是受西亚文化影响极深的一种瓷器造型，“天球瓶”原名为“千秋瓶”，象征着“千秋太平”之意。创烧于明代永乐、宣德年间的景德镇窑，青花为多见。因球腹硕大，状似天球，故名。此天球瓶造型端庄稳重，其上以粉彩绘饰，细致精美。整器主体彩云之间有金龙威武，彩凤富丽，是为龙凤呈祥，构图疏密有致，绘制极为精细，尤其是凤凰的脖颈、翎毛、凤首，一丝不苟，毫发毕现，富丽堂皇，甚是难得。光绪粉彩多仿制乾隆朝而制，色彩明丽，其白地粉彩至佳者可与道光粉彩相媲美，纹饰生动，描绘精致，本拍品即为此说之例证，纹饰勾绘细腻精湛，成色鲜艳亮妍，画面生动栩栩，布局疏密相间，为光绪粉彩之佼佼者，颇具气势。
