A large George IV sampler dated 1823, worked by Harriet Nelson aged 8, in polychrome threads on a linen ground, with a religious verse above a brick house, sheep, deer and a cat at the front steps, surrounded by numerous further trees, plants, birds, crowns, stars and heart motifs, all within a repeating floral design border, 65.5cm x 65.5cm, later framed and glazed (at fault) CONDITION REPORT:The sampler is framed and glazed and has not been removed for inspection. The linen ground shows age related darkening with some variation in the level of discolouration throughout, and some slightly stretched areas. Various areas also show small circular holes, which appear to extend into the surface behind the original linen. The colours of the silks are faded, making it hard to read the verse.
