A George III sampler dated October 21 1819, worked by Agnes Sharp with the legend 'When this you see remember me, when I am dead and gone', worked in polychrome threads on a linen ground, with a couple flanking an urn, below a central castellated house, a deer, sheep, crown, birds, peacocks, Adam and Eve beneath an apple tree and numerous further trees and plants, 32.5cm x 32.5cm, (at fault) later framed and glazed CONDITION REPORT:The sampler is framed under glass and has not been removed for inspection. The piece shows small losses to the fabric ground in several areas, and a larger area of loss to the tree on the left hand side below the legend. The colours are generally distinct, but show a degree of age related fading, most noticeable in the paler details (for example the bodies of Adam and Eve). The fabric ground shows age related darkening throughout.
