* TO BE SOLD WITHOUT RESERVE * A CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN INCENSE BOX AND COVER, KOGO, MING DYNASTY, CHONGZHEN PERIOD, 1628 – 1644 明崇祯 青花祥瑞纹香盒一件 The rounded sides of the box rising from a recessed unglazed base, painted around the exterior with scrolling lingzhi, the domed cover moulded to simulate the veins of a lotus leaf and painted with a dense scale diaper ground inscribed ji (good fortune), all surmounted by a bird finial, Japanese wood box (2) Height 6cm Provenance: Mujintang Collection, purchased in Kyoto, 2014. Exhibited: Robert Bradlow Fine Art, Reflecting Nature, 17th Century Chinese Ceramics for the Japanese Market: Kosometsuke & Koake, Catalogue no.8. Condition Report The incense box is in good condition, the cover has a 1.5cm long glaze flake to one of the moulded veins and some minor fritting to one of the other veins.
