本件器物用上等翡翠圆雕而成，局部飘绿，青翠欲滴，水头充足，色泽通透，种水俱佳。该器造型生动，活泼动感，圆雕镂雕童子手持麦穗，童子头梳双髻，眼尾细长，露齿大笑，衣纹流畅，麦穗过肩垂于一侧，颗粒饱满，麦叶经络分明。翡翠是目前中国玉器中最光彩夺目的玉种。清代产于缅甸的翠玉大量输入中国，成为首饰艺术的主要玉石，成为清代贵妇后妃争相显耀身份的高档玉宝石。
