此套墨为长方形，每锭墨形制如一，共计十八锭，纹饰各异，正反两面各刻一黄山景色和对应诗文。黄山图墨为清代著名墨品，据说最早是清康熙时期曹素功进呈给皇帝，后曹素功、汪近圣、汪节庵、胡开文墨肆皆有生产此墨品，直至清晚期。每个墨肆因在纹饰设计上、刻模者工艺上不同而稍有差异，各有特色。此套墨用料上乘，模刻精细，金色纯正，磨口如镜，并带原装描金龙纹漆木盒，当为清中期集锦墨之佳者。
