Furthermore, Zahourek's passion for anatomy and his artistic process is strongly conveyed in this painting. Zahourek himself has described his creative method as somewhat organic and dissociative. In his words, "Paintings and drawings and sculpture were all a surprise. The kinesthetic mind was doing the artwork, not the conscious mind." In the 1970s, Zahourek moved to New York to teach painting. He continued as an artist and educator, and eventually fueled his passion for anatomy into developing a system for teaching anatomy which has been used by more than 6,000 classrooms across the United States.
