OSWALD OBERHUBER (Austria, 1931 - 2020)Untitled, 1986.Pencil on card.Signed and dated in the lower right corner.Size: 34 x 44 cm; 50 x 65 cm (frame). The work of the artist Oswald Oberhuber, who is close to us, in many respects represents a permanent change and thus a radical break with the idea of a homogeneous and stylistically consistent oeuvre: he is, so to speak, a postmodern artist avant la lettre. This is reflected in the diversity of the exhibition. "Simultaneously," say curators Luisa Ziaja and Alfred Weidinger, "through the diverse range of styles, media, materials and techniques used, Oswald Oberhuber is ultimately always visible. His approach to form and colour, his focus on line, are common themes running through his work and are evident in the way the works are placed opposite each other and side by side in this exhibition. Based on an idea of Oberhuber's own, the architecture of the 21er Haus exhibition and its interaction with the works of art on display facilitate just that: surprising moments between reorientation and continuity. "Oswald Oberhuber studied sculpture at the Federal School of Commerce in Innsbruck. He also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. In 1972, Oberhuber represented Austria at the Venice Biennale. The following year, he became a professor at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where he worked until 1998. The Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts recognised Oberhuber as an honorary member in 1982 and as an honorary senator in 2004.
