上师是藏传佛教中对高德胜行、堪为世人轨范的僧人的尊称，又称金刚上师。此尊造像头顶微秃，发际线较高，使得脸型显得略长，下巴微尖。面容慈祥，满含笑意。身着宽松覆肩坎肩、百衲袈裟，外披大氅；右手作触地印，左手于腹部作禅定托火焰摩尼宝，双足结金刚跏趺坐于莲座之上。莲座下承折角须弥座，束腰两端各有一灵动鲜活，回首相望的狮子，中间饰法轮。须弥座上下边缘雕刻菱形纹饰并以绿松石镶嵌。整尊造像金色亮丽，铜质温润，磨损自然，表情细腻传神。此尊法相及造型与现藏布达拉宫的12世纪晚期的向蔡巴缂丝唐卡极为相似，因此可以断定其为向蔡巴上师像。
