A Very Rare Painting of Shah Jahan Hunting Blackbuck. Western India, Rajasthan, Udaipur, ca 1700 The Mughal emperor is seen center front, hiding behind a bush with his toradar (an Indian matchlock rifle) ready to fire, in front of the ruler a female deer is tied to a lead to attract the wild blackbucks, behind him are his guards and servants with hunting dogs and his horse, in the background the royal hunting procession with the ruler's elephant with golden howdah (carriage) atop, and his golden throne carried by servants can been seen near the top right.
