A Japanese silvered bronze Okimono of a hawk by Seiya Genryusai, Meiji Period (1868-1912), perched on a carved wood base in the form of a rocky outcrop, total height 39cm, width 31.5cm, depth 27cm. Seiya of Tokyo was the master craftsman in charge of a workshop which specialized in fine quality wares for export. His meticulous bronze figures, most of which were animals, were likely influenced by the opening of Tokyo Zoo in 1882.
