Baroque equatorial travel sundial Around 1780/90. inscribed on the bottom "A. Vogler". VOGLER, Andreas(Ca. 1730 - 1800) Brass engraved, compass needle, glass. Ø 5,5 cm. Collapsible sundial with finely engraved octagonal base plate and glazed compass. Erectable latitudo degree arch, equatorial hoop with Roman hour markers. In the hoop hinged polar staff as shadow caster (gnomon). On the bottom of the compass engraved city names (eg Corfu, Lisbon, Paris, Cologne, etc.) with respective latitude Glass disc cracked, bussole bottom rubbed. Andreas Vogler was a compass maker in Augsburg. He took over the workshop of his late brother Johann Georg in 1766.
