A BRONZE FIGURE OF SYAMATARA Tibet, 16th ct. H. 15,2 cm Seated in vajrasana on a lotus-base with her right hand lowered in varadamudra while the left shows vitarkamudra, both hands holding stems of lotuses flowering along her upper arms, wearing sari, jewellery partly set with beads, her face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, raised urna at her forehead, elongated earlobes with ear-ornaments, her hair combed in a chignon and secured with a tiara, unsealed. Old South German private collection, most likely bought from Schoettle East Asian Art, Stuttgart in the 1970s Eine Spitze am Diadem besch.
