Rood 1865” 2) Waves crashing right, signed and dated lower right “O. N. Rood 1874” Note: Rood was an American physicist and amateur artist best known for his work in color theory. He studied at Yale and Princeton University in 1854-1858. He studied art in Germany and later became the Chair of Physics at Columbia University. In 1879, he published a book on color theory entitled Modern Chromatics With Applications to Art in Industry, published in 1879.
