Watercolor and ink on paper Housed in a giltwood frame, matted under glass Initialed lower right “WP.” Note: Waldo Peirce and Ernest Hemingway had a lifelong friendship. This was painted when the were working for the American Field Service, where Peirce was an ambulance driver. After WWI, Peirce toured Spain with writer Ernest Hemingway. SIZE: 11-3/4″ x 18-3/4″. Overall: 18″ x 24-3/4″. PROVENANCE: Descended within family of the artist. CONDITION: Several spots of discoloration, not examined out of frame. 52284-11 (6,000-9,000)
