据记载，蚰耳炉器形仿自宋代定窑器，耳弯如蚰，得名蚰龙。此种炉具潜龙之象，含韬晦之志，正如《易•系辞》云：“尺蠖之屈，以求信也；龙蛇之蛰，以存身也。”因此，不论帝王、文人皆喜爱之。
此件作品炉型敦厚扎实，精巧修理，一手即握，分量压手，文气十足。
圆口微唇沿，束颈缓收，腹部饱满圆弧，底承圈足，足缘起弦，可鉴精工，底心圆形开框，“宣德年制”四字篆书款，作“一二一”排列。
此炉最为精妙之处在其双耳，造型灵动圆润，平出环收，耳孔半圆，耳头圆实，耳根微微翘起，曼妙生姿，与炉型审美大合。
其皮为栗壳色，浅栗微红，略沉微黄，淡墨晕散，润泽古意，厚重沉着，抚之绵腻，不盘自润，甚得古朴之蕴。
