此炉窄口起弦，束直颈，扁腹鼓凸饱满，三足鼎立，足形秀雅，平底方框，落“永存珍玩”四字篆书款。
鬲式炉与其他文玩形式的铜炉不同，一般不陈放于书房案头，而是陈列于厅堂、佛堂等居中的重要位置，肃穆端仪的造型具有相当的礼仪功能。中国古代，礼仪用器总是比普通的文玩之物于精神上高出一个档次，这也是这类器物格外令人珍视的一个原因。
