A paint on cloth thangka depicting a central figure surrounded by 39 floating figures including various peaceful and wrathful Buddhist figures as well as several lamas. The central figure has red skin with their two hands in dhyana mudra on their lap. They are seated with their two legs in padmasana on a moon disc resting upon a lotus pedestal. The figure may be a special form of the Buddha Amitabha with four total faces, three of which are different colors. They are depicted in a peaceful appearance with elaborate jewelry and robes. Their throne is supported by a pair of guardian lions, and behind the Buddha are lotuses. The figures surrounding the central Buddha all hold various instruments and implements. The back of the thangka has nine Tibetan written characters. Dimensions are: 29 1/2 inches tall X 21 1/2 inches wide, 74.9 cm X 54.6 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is widespread loss to the surface, severe creasing, and tears. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is. We have sought to record the changes in the condition of this piece after its initial manufacture as diligently as possible; however, as stated in our terms, condition reports are statements of opinion and not representations or warranties.
