A pair of Chinese blue-ground Guanyin vases dating from the Republic period. The vases come with hardwood stands. Both vases feature white-ground roundels featuring famille rose scenes of flowering branches, some with birds. These roundels are set against an incised ground with additional famille rose flowers. The neck of each vase has one xian string pattern, and the bottom of each vase has a 6-character mark. Dimensions are: 17 3/4 inches tall X 8 1/2 inches in diameter, 45.1 cm X 21.6 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: One vase is in overall good condition with a firing crack to the foot. The other vase has a large area of breakage, repair, and overpainting to the rim. One of the stands has a large crack and repair. The other stand has some cracking. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is. We have sought to record the changes in the condition of this piece after its initial manufacture as diligently as possible; however, as stated in our terms, condition reports are statements of opinion and not representations or warranties. Oakridge Auction Gallery bears no responsibility for any error or omission. Provenance: From Mrs. McClellan in Las Vegas, Nevada. The items in the collection were acquired in Beijing or Hong Kong from the 1980s to the early 1990s. Notes: High resolution photos can be found here.
