Pair of candlesticks; Italy, last third of the 17th century. Bronze. Measurements: 17 x 12 x 12 cm. Pair of candlesticks made in bronze whose design is framed in the transition between the last baroque and the rococo. The model is the usual throughout the baroque period, a model of European origin characterised by a voluminous foot, large burner and a short, slightly disproportionate stem. As for the structure of the shaft, we see the silhouette of curve and counter-curve typical of the baroque. In the burner we see a similar process, an almost totally sinuous silhouette in the rococo style. The decoration is based on the use of helicoidal edges, which reflect the upward rotating movement typical of the Baroque, and which visually unify the piece. Grooves and grooves were one of the main ornamental resources used in Baroque silverware, especially in its Classicism. Dimensions 17 x 12 x 12 cm.
