Decorated all over in gold makie on a black lacquer ground, the edges with hanabishi and lozenges of mother-of-pearl, the front of the doors with lobed reserves, filled with tiger and leopard underneath bamboo and a pair of hares in a landscape with tachibana and asters, at the sides in lozenge-shaped cartouches onagadori and tachibana and a stag, maple tree and kikyo, on the top in a multi-lobed cartouche an autumn landscape. Inside a total of eighteen drawers with kikyo, autumn flowers and water scenes in cartouches and ring pull handles of metal, and a central drawer with an iron lock decorated with an European arch, the inside of the doors with kikyo, the backside with a leafy scroll. Fittings of chiseled gilt copper. Losses to the original lacquer due to age and overpainting. Set on a European wood stand on cabriole legs.
