A group of three pen and ink drawings by Josep Bartoli i Guiu (Spanish/American, 1910-1995), also known as Jose Bartoli. The work was done for a Holiday Magazine, one is dated and marked Nov. 49, Holiday and Biloxi. Another is marked Pass-Christian and Holiday and is likely for the same 1949 issue of Holiday Magazine. The third is marked Volcano 'Paricutin'. The verso is stamped 'Represented by Ernest Ericson, NY'. Illustrations have camera room notes for actual sizes needed for the paste up layouts. Dimensions are: Largest: 14 1/4 inches tall X 18 1/4 inches wide; 36.19 cm tall X 46.35 cm wide. Smallest: 9 3/4 inches tall X 11 5/8 inches wide; 24.76 cm tall X 29.52 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Age yellowing and use wear. Provenance: From noted editor and art director, Frank Zachary, to his brother-in-law Robert Shaffer.
