Their close relationship is evinced by a number of other collaborative paintings by the two artists including Portrait of Gao Yongzhi beneath a Tree (1871) in the collection of the Shanghai Museum, as well as a portrait of Hu Yuan by Ren Yi Portrait of the Hengyun Mountain Man as a Travelling Beggar (1868) in the collection of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing.
