Statue is inscribed with calligraphy around the base which reads this was made in the winter of the fifth year of the emperors reign during the Song dynasty. Base has no markings. Dimensions are: 7 3/4 inches tall X 2 3/4 inches wide; 19.68 cm tall X 6.98 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Appears that something has broken off of something the statue is holding. Provenance: From a private Northern Virginia collection. Collected in the early 20th century by the current owner's grandparents during their time stationed in China working for Standard Oil.
