18th-century walnut veneered bureau, decorated all over with cross-banding and herringbone string, flap opening to reveal central cupboard, one long and four short drawers (one drawer incorrect being made of oak and not contemporary with the bureau), sliding panel for well, lower section with two short and two long graduated drawers, all standing on bracket feet, large brass carrying handles to each side of bureau. width 92cm (36"), depth 53cm (21"), height 100cm (39") Condition report: Multiple areas of patching to the outer carcass with lifting of veneers, top left-hand side of flap section missing (see illustration), interior one small drawer replaced with oak drawer of similar proportions, interior of well suffering from ink spillage, replacement handles, scuff marks to bracket feet.
