A TWELF-FOLD SCREEN BY YU CHOE-JIN (1791 - 1869). Korea, dated 1864, width 406 cm, 146.5 × 33.5 cm (one panel). Ink on paper. Gnarled Plum Tree. Two inscriptions, each signed: Cho-san and seal 樵山. Yu Choe-jin ( 柳最鎭 , 유최진), with pen names Cho-san (초산 , 樵山) and Hak-san, was a minor official, writer, and painter and closely associated with the famous group of painters around Cho Hee-ryong, Ui-gwan, Lee Ki-bok and Kim Jeong-hee (Chu-sa). Yu Choe-jin( 柳最鎭 , 유최진) mit Künstlernamen Cho-san (초산 , 樵山) und Hak-san, war Schriftsteller und Maler und stand in enger Verbindung mit der berühmten Malergruppe um Cho Hee-ryong, Ui-gwan, Lee Ki-bok und Kim Jeong-hee (Chu-sa). Die Malerei wurdein den 1980er Jahren in Seoul als Stellschirm neu montiert.
