A Chinese blue and white stem cup dating from the 19th century. The interior has a Shou medallion surrounded by five bats. The exterior features a pair of birds in a landscape with an inscription. There is a 4-character mark on the inside of the foot. Dimensions are: 4 inches tall X 7 1/2 inches wide, 10.2 cm X 19.1 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is an area of repair and overpainting on the rim. There is chipping to the foot and rim. Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area.
