A pair of Chinese red-coated metal boxes dating from the 19th century. The lidded boxes are in the shapes of quatrefoils, and they are decorated with flowers. Dimensions are: 2 1/4 inches tall X 5 inches wide, 5.7 cm X 12.7 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is widespread cracking and chipping. Provenance: From the collection of Mr. Williams in Texas. Mr. Williams has more than 50 years of collecting experience in Buddhist sculptures, paintings, and ritual objects from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, and the Central Plains of China.
