A Chinese quatrefoil lacquer panel with precious stone carvings and cloisonne elements dating from the 18th or 19th century. The precious stones include jades with brown and red skins, agate, rose quartz, and jadeite, and they are carved in the shapes of birds, a snuff bottle, a tiger, and a boulder with ruyi and peaches. The cloisonne element depicts a bowl of peaches and Buddha's hand fruit. The carvings and cloisonne are attached to wooden stands which protrude from the ivory lacquer ground of the panel. The entire panel is housed in a Zitan wood frame. Dimensions are: 32 inches tall X 32 inches wide, 81.3 cm X 81.3 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is significant breakage to the wooden stand holding the cloisonne element. There is a chip to the boulder with ruyi and peaches. The lacquer is cracking, and the zitan wood frame has significant cracking and separation. Provenance: From a Taiwanese collector living in Texas.
