A Chinese gilt wood statue of a Buddhist monk dating from the Ming dynasty. The monk has some hair and facial hair. The right hand is in dhyana mudra and the left is up in the abhaya mudra to allay fear. He sits in dhyanasana. Dimensions are: 15 1/2 inches tall X 10 inches wide, 39.4 cm X 25.4 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: It is in overall poor condition with extensive breakage, loss, and cracking. One hand has been reattached, and several fingers are missing altogether.
