STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN VIEW TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC SOUP TUREEN, featuring the Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia on exterior of base, the Brooklyn Ferry on interior, and the Battle of Bunker Hill on cover, from the Vine Border series. Unmarked. Together with an auction catalog for "The Renowned William E. & Frances Clemson Cross Collection of Historic Staffordshire", O. Rundle Gilbert, Auctioneer, 11/24/1958, in which this piece was sold. Two pieces total. Ralph Stevenson, Cobridge, England. 1810-1835. 8" HOA, base 11" x 8 1/2" rim. Excellent condition, base having an approximately 1" D glued rim chip, with minor expected usage wear including interior having some short scattered scratches and moderate crazing with light discoloration; cover with minor very light hairline to ladle slot that does not appear to go through to front. Manufacturing glaze imperfection to finial, as made. Published: Transferware Collectors Club database patterns #4732 and #4733.
