BATH, NEW YORK EMBROIDERED AND HAIRWORK MEMORIAL, chenille, ribbons, crepe, paint, and dried flowers on silk, depicting a vase with handles holding a three-dimensional flower arrangement, center featuring a small vignette made from paint and hair on likely a bone ground featuring a headstone that reads "Phelps / 1832" under a weeping willow, applied lower edge with hand-inscription of "In Memory of Affection Phelps - Louisa Phelps" and "Bath, New York, 1832". Housed under glass in a period frame. Dated 1832. 15 1/2" x 15 1/2" sight, 19 1/4" x 19 1/4" OA. Very good overall condition with some light toning, some light fading and fugitive color, frame with some wear, a few flakes, and backing is partially loose. Not examined out of frame.
