Young of Florida is appointed a "United States District Judge for the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida." Countersigned by Robert F. Kennedy as Attorney General. Seal of the Department of Justice at lower left. Framed to the overall size of 20.75" x 17". George Cressler Young (1916-2015) was a United States District Judge for the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida until September of 1966. There after he served on the Middle District and then as a Chief Judge from 1973 to 1981. In 1971 he ordered the desegregation of Orange County schools and was thereafter put under the protection of U.S. Marshals due to the high number of death threats he received. He retired in 2004.
