William Starkweather,New York, Connecticut, Spain,1879-1969 Depicts bare twisted trees framing waves crashing to shore with seagulls flying over head. Starkweather studied at the Academie Colarossi in Paris wear he first witnessed work done by Joaquin Sorolla, becoming one of his inspirations. He returned to New York working on illustrations for publications and teaching classes before moving to Spain to study under Sorolla before travelling. Starkweather's work had been exhibited at Society of Independent Artists, the American Water Color Society and the Allied Artists of America.
