Lid with small compartment at the top. Florence, 18th century. Owned by Major-General Sir Herbert Benjamin Edwardes, KCB KCSI DCL (English, 1819-1868). Box showcases detailed metalwork and semi-precious stones with carved woodwork. Interior of the box is lined with red velvet material. Dimensions: 9 1/4 inches tall X 11 inches wide X 11 inches deep; 23.49 cm tall X 27.94 cm wide X 27.94 cm deep. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Repairs done to the bottom panel, claw foot risers are loose. Provenance: From a private Pennsylvanian collection.
