A Chinese gilt bronze Medicine Buddha or Bhaisajyaguru dating from the Yongle or Xuande periods of the Ming dynasty. The Buddha sits in dhyanasana on a double lotus pedestal. His right hand holds a myrobalan fruit, and his left hand sits in his lap, palm up. He wears a robe with borders of lotus tracery covering both shoulders.
