A large Chinese blue and white ginger jar with a lid dating from the Kangxi period. The body and lid are covered in lotus tracery. Dimensions are: 21 1/2 inches tall X 12 inches wide, 54.6 cm X 30.5 cm. All measurements are approximate. High resolution images can be found here Condition: There is a crack in the rim and to the bottom of the interior. There is a repair with a hairline to the rim. Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s.
