Dimensions: 2-1/2" H x 4-1/2" Diam. (each) Lustrous, Chinese 17th Qing Dynasty Qianlong Reign Period, A pair of Qianlong rouge gems red dragon porcelain bowl. Delicately potted with slightly rounded sides rising from footed base toward flat opening, of a simply deep vessel, straight opening, curved side, raised on slight foot base rim. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the ruby red fine color. The main body decorated with five claws imperial dragon soaring amidst flames and vapors, with face and upper right appendage outstretched toward the heavens. Vigorous dragons chasing flaming pearl amidst flames against ruby red scrolling cumulus clouds diaper. The backdrop depicts swirling wind and fire painted atop a beautiful white underglaze. Enclosed banded with single ruby red fine rings lines. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. Mark on under base, a six underglaze red seal script characters reign mark, Qianlong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
