Dimensions; 11-3/8" H x 7-1/2" Diam. Chinese Qianlong blue and white dragon porcelain pear vase. Finely potted in Chinese traditional YuHuChun shape vessel, the pear-shaped bottle vase, a bottom-heavy body tapered gracefully to the slender-waisted neck, flaring at the rim, supported on short spreading foot ring. All delicately in a cobalt blue hand painting in a clean white under glazed base color. The shoulder decorated in lotus blooms interspersed with foliage, vines bounded with double fine lines. Upturning lappets on the neck with double fine blue lines on the upper rim and the foot base rim . The belly depicted in a frame the great snarling imperial five-claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds flame above thrashing Li-Shui waves to chase a flaming pearls. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity and the Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The glaze appearance on the blue painting resembled the texture of an orange peel "ju-pi" (chu-p'i) or a chicken skin. The clay is fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth, brilliant with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous.The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six underglaze blue script characters, Qian Long Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
