A FINE SANDSTONE BUST OF LOKESHVARA, CAMBODIA, KHMER, BAYON PERIOD, 13th ct., on base. Standing in samabhanga with just a small section of both upper legs still present, wearing a vertical striated sampot secured with a broad belt carved with flower-heads demonstrating a minute fishtail-shaped section below the belt to his front, naked upper body, his four arms presently broken, his face displaying a serene expression with slit eyes below ridged eyebrows, broad nose, smiling lips, elongated earlobes, his hair combed in a chignon secured with a beaded string and set to the front with a minute seated figure of Buddha Amitabha showing both hands in dhyanamudra - Property from an important South German private collection, bought 1963 from Arnim Lemp in Zuerich, researched by the Doerner Institute Munich, the shown foto has been taken 1967 - Slightly chipped, minor wear, overall good condition, very small filled crack
