斋戒牌是古人祭祀前斋戒时所佩之牌。清代沿袭明制实行斋戒，规定凡应行斋戒之人，不得无故不与斋，凡持斋不守戒规者，必受重罚，各宫托故不行斋戒，或私自饮用酒等不洁之物者，可削官去爵，为督查官行方便，持斋者均发给斋戒牌，这就使斋戒牌成为清宫中的日常用品之一。斋戒牌有长方、椭圆或海棠等式样，种类丰富。此件斋戒牌，以粉彩绘饰，金彩髹边。分内外两层，内心白地，正反面分别以汉、满文字写“斋戒”二字，字体隽秀典雅。外圈为黄地绘粉彩缠枝莲纹，纹饰勾连缠绕，色彩繁复渐变，渲染过渡自然，装饰技巧极其娴熟，为乾隆朝小尺寸粉彩佳作。
