此件兔毫盏敞口，斜直腹，圈足及底部露胎，胎体因含铁量较高而烧成红褐色。盏体内外黑釉，有垂流现象。盏口酱色，依随沿边一周红褐细条纹理间饰错落，釉面颜色绀黑如漆，温润晶莹，在黑色釉中透露出均匀细密的筋脉状白褐色纹饰，犹如兔子身上的毫毛一样细，闪闪发光，此种釉因似兔毫而得名，为建窑经典名品之一。
