1906年生，浙江杭州人。出生于书画世家。早年师从俞云阶、胡也衲，1925年与康云、胡亚光等组织西泠书画社。1929年加入中国美术会，与叶浅予组织中国美术会第一届杭州画展。1949年后长期任教于上海工艺美术学校。著有《山水画基础技法》、《墨竹析览》。擅山水、墨竹。所作山水多为云雾变幻景象，颇得渲染润泽之意趣。所作墨竹疏朗秀逸，表现出风、雨、晴、雪多种情态，尤以风竹摇曳多姿为佳。擅长山水、墨竹，上海美协会员、上海市文史馆馆员、浙江文史研究馆名誉馆员。?
