BIG CUP IN THE IMITATION OF A NAUTILUS BY THE HOUSE ALPHONSE GIROUX
Japanese French work from the 19th century period
It consists of a bronze base decorated with prunus flowers, which is extended by pheasants, butterflies and insects including bees. The cup, imitating the nautilus, is made of aventurine glass. One notes the play on the variety of patinas as well as on the combinations of techniques. Thus, it seems that some elements are made of lacquer. Artist's mark on the underside of the base (accidents, restorations, missing parts).
