CHINESE SILVER CORNET VASE FOR EXPORT BY WOSHING
China, Shanghai, Qing Dynasty, Around 1900
Circular base, tubular foot centered with a knot, lobed trumpet bowl imitating a hibiscus flower, two contoured "buttresses" linking the foot to the bowl. Centering the front, a coat of arms left blank. Decoration in ajours and in repoussé of bamboos, prunes, chrysanthemums and a dragon. Marks on the side of the foot: "WOSHING", "SHINGHAÏ" (sic.) as well as two inscribed ideograms and the "weevil" (oxidation, a patch in the hollow of the foot).
