A MING DYNASTY STYLE WUCAI PALETTE PARCEL GILT PORCELAIN JAR, CHINA, JIAJING (1522-1566) REIGN MARK, underglaze blue painted porcelain with overglaze green, yellow and red enameling, the double ringed circular mouth opens over a band of six lotus pod clusters within a rolled, raised gilt collar, over a slightly tapered and compressed globular body painted with twenty petaled lotus buds of a variety of colors issuing scrolling tendrils, interrupted by rolled, raised arabesque reserves revealing four different landscapes, each occupied by swirling clouds above a qilin residing in a garden of setting, respectively among gourds, bamboo, plantain leaves, juniper branches, a pond with palm fronds, and colorful fruits, enclosed by a second raised, gilt collar above a colorful feather motif, encircled by double underglaze blue bands, verso a double ringed underglaze blue six character reign mark.
