Dong Shouping was born in the family of poems, Dong Shouping's great ancestor Dong Jitang was a famous calligrapher in the middle of Qing Dynasty, and his grandfather Dong Zhihuan was a Qing Hanlin, known for his poems. Dong's collection is rich in cultural relics, paintings and calligraphy, and is well known overseas. Since his childhood, Dong Shouping has loved painting and calligraphy from his family and worked hard on his own. After the first painting of flowers, he studied the landscape, and is especially famous for painting plum and bamboo and the landscape of Huangshan Mountain. The advent of calligraphy and painting in 1931 immediately made a noise in Jinghua, which was well received by Chinese and foreign people.
