铜刘海本名刘操，字宗成，燕山人，生于五代时期。原于朝廷为官，后弃官上山修炼，道号「海蟾子」。得道后欲解救金蟾，因三足蟾性贪，见金钱便咬，于是以一串金钱钓其出海，负于肩上，因此金蟾走一步，能吐一枚铜钱。而后刘海蟾走到哪，就将钱撒到哪，周济穷人，因此刘海蟾也被视为财神。刘海与金蟾铜胎铸造，色泽古朴莹亮。刘海喜笑颜开，面呈童子像；身背一壶，随意恣然，舒坐于金蟾背上。金蟾三足，小眼圆瞪，下颔外鼓，嘴大张，头上仰，腹部中空。整件雕塑刀法纯熟，表情生动，妙趣横生，题材寓意美好，尺寸大小适中，适合把玩之文房雅物。
