Vibrant Chinese Ming Jiajing YuHuChun vase, with dragon motif. Sturdy porcelain vase with robust shoulder region curving into a feminine waist that extends all the way to the bottom forming the raised circular base. The exterior is encapsulated in lemon-yellow underglaze with green five-claws dragon soaring through lotus tendril, and pine-tree branches. Single green band separated the neck from the shoulder region. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman.Mark on under-base, a six vertical incised underglaze green script characters reign mark enclosed within double fine rings, Jiajing Reign Period of Great Ming.Measurements: Height: 12-3/8" Diameter: 6-3/8"PROVENANCE:From the estate of Harold & Mousser, of York, Pennsylvania, an entrepeneurs, private collections, acquired pre-1970's from Fluhrer's Galleries, York, PA.
