此炉方斗式，端正毓秀，有亭亭玉立之感。平口外撇，敛腹，下承兽腿足，两侧出戟耳，和谐对称，为光素的器身平添俊雅之姿。炉底中央开方框，铸“大明宣德年制”楷书款，铲地较浅，然字迹清晰端正，铸后精修，笔划细韧匀整，字面清秀，可见授意及用心。此炉气质脱俗，文雅不凡，方斗式的器形可追溯至嘉靖时期所流行之方斗杯，与道教的盛行密不可分。参阅：《金玉青烟——杨柄祯先生珍藏明清铜炉》，国立历史博物馆，1996年，页276，图231。
